STORY TIME
On the-ever-present-julie's recommendation, I read Neil Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane. I absolutely adored the whole book, but especially the description throughout. One part that really caught my attention was the part in chapter nine when the thing in the main character’s foot is described as the silver of an egg blackened by soot and floating in salt water. I’d never heard of such a thing before, but it seemed such an oddly specific kind of silver that I tried it.
you have no idea how hard it is to blacken a whole egg with candle soot without burning yourself there were so many better ways i could have done thistl:dr if you were wondering what the heck kind of silver that thing in that book was, it looked like this
You have no idea how much I love that someone did this. And photographed it.
You see the black egg in picture #2? That became silver to the eye when placed in the salt water. And it floats (because of the salt)…
