Omg, people are so uncultured. The newspaper asked it’s readers what they thought about the ‘gender bending’ in Peter Pan live. What do you think about Peter Pan being played by a girl? And all these people are all, ‘why do they keep up this tradition?’ ‘Is it supposed to be empowering for women? Because it’s not.’
How about you all sit down and think about the theater a little bit. (which of course you won’t because you stupid newspaper readers in my town have a lack of imagination and think theater is supposed to be ‘realistic’ like the movies) It’s theater. Of course you cannot have a young boy playing Peter Pan because the role is so big and, because of child laws, you’d have to have several different Peters for the season. So the question is, how on earth do you have a grown man playing a young boy? First of all, a grown man usually isn’t as slender and small as a young boy like Peter Pan. Second, his voice is usually lower than a young boy. So it’s just easier to get a grown woman to play Peter Pan.
I hate to break it to you, but all your little kids in cartoons are usually voiced by grown woman. We just have that ability to sound more like a child than men do.
I hate people and theater. They don’t have any theater etiquette (seriously, when I when and saw POTO on Broadway, the audience was so damn rude) and they’re so confused when the younger version of a character is played by someone who is a different race or hair color. It’s theater. Grow an imagination you uneducated assholes.
Yes it makes me angry. People just don’t have any class anymore.
