APS Conferences for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP) are three-day regional conferences for undergraduate physics majors.
The 2015 conferences will be held Friday, January 16 through Sunday afternoon, January 18, 2015.
- North Carolina Research Triangle
- Purdue University
- Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey
- University of California, Santa Cruz
- University of Michigan
- University of Mississippi
- University of Texas at Brownsville
- Yale University
The APS CUWiP goal is to help undergraduate women continue in physics by providing them with the opportunity to experience a professional conference, information about graduate school and professions in physics, and access to other women in physics of all ages with whom they can share experiences, advice, and ideas.
A typical program will include research talks by faculty, panel discussions about graduate school and careers in physics, presentations and discussions about women in physics, laboratory tours, student research talks, a student poster session, and several meals during which presenters and students interact with each other.[via the American Physical Society]
This sounds like a really great opportunity for female physics undergrads interested in graduate school or finding out more about jobs for people with a physics background. Go apply! Science needs you.
