2h4:
Earlier this year, Baltimore Ravens football player Ray Rice beat his then-fiance Janay Palmer in an elevator, knocking her out. He was suspended for two games.
This morning, TMZ released a video of the incident.
Part 1
This is the world we live in, where a woman rendered unconscious by intimate partner violence “apologizes for the role she played in the incident”, and saving face and spinning good PR is more important than ensuring your players aren’t roided up goons with a hard on for hitting women.
Fuck the Ravens. May their franchise never win and their change room reek of stale jocks.
As for Rice, I hope he gets fired. Ideally by a squad.
I was just at my doctor’s office and the tragic tale of Rice’s doomed career was ALL OVER CNN. Like, he BEAT A WOMAN UNCONSCIOUS. WHY IS THIS SUCH A BIG FUCKING DEAL? Because he bEAT A WOMAN? No. It’s a big deal because “the career he worked his ass off” has gone down the drain. They were reporting on this as if his career was the only thing that mattered. They showed statements from his wife about how sorry she was this happened and I’m just like, HE BEAT YOU UNCONSCIOUS. Why are YOU sorry that HE fucked his own self - and career - over?! FFS!
I just saw this yesterday and it bothers me so much. He’s in the NFL, so he gets a free pass? What? I don’t want him fired. I want him treated like everybody else - fired and in jail. Why does he get a free pass?
I don’t know what happened between him and his wife/fiance, but that is just not acceptable. He didn’t just drag her out of the elevator, he dragged her like she was too heavy and left her there in between the elevator doors. He couldn’t pick her up like she was a human being that he might have seriously injured. No, he had to drag her like some heavy log he didn’t want to carry.
No respect whatsoever for this guy or the NFL. Not just the team, but the entire NFL. I’m sure he’s not the first to get away with something like this.
