Hunting deer and small game is one thing, hunting large predators is another. Especially with how low the male lion population is. There is generally one male (alpha) lion in a pride. Sometimes he might keep his sons around, other times they are chased off. Male lions don’t hunt (often). Single male lions that get to close to another pride are generally killed on sight by the male of the pride. Also, if another male takes over the pride, he kills off the cubs (mostly the male cubs) of the loser.
The point I’m trying to make is how low the male lion population is and how restricted the hunting of them in particular should be. Like with deer, there can be a restriction on antlered deer. I had a license for antlerless deer-only the two times I went hunting.
Deer are also an invasive species in some parts so hunting deer is no big deal coz there are too many of them. I’ve never heard of lion hunting and I hope nobody every does it again. I mean, do you eat it? What on earth do you do with it? If its just to skin it and leave it, that’s a waste of an animal. That’s just hunting to kill.
